We did the work for you so you do not have to convert- use this chart to find their height. Outerwear is made to layer over clothes- getting this right should be all the work you need to do. When looking at boots, use current tennis shoe sizing. Boot sizes are in T (Toddler) and Y (Youth)- not by age.

What is Didriksons Extend Size?

Extend Size is a built-in growth feature found in select Didriksons children’s outerwear. Special seams inside the sleeves and legs can be opened to release extra fabric, adding approximately one full size—or up to about 2 inches of additional length. That means your child can enjoy a proper fit now, with extra growing room ready when it is needed.

How do I know whether a garment has Extend Size?

Look for “Extend Size” in the product description or features. Inside the garment, the extendable areas are marked with distinctive red stitching. Not every Didriksons children’s garment includes this feature, so check the individual product listing before purchasing.

When should I extend the sleeves or legs?

Wait until the garment has genuinely become short in the arms or legs. Have your child try it on over the layers they normally wear outside. Extend it when: Their wrists are becoming exposed when they reach forward. The pant legs are riding above their boots. Their movement is becoming restricted by the shorter length. The body of the garment still fits comfortably. Do not open the seams simply to create extra room in advance. A correctly fitting garment is easier for children to run, climb and play in.
