Product Description
The Kamik Waterbug 5 Kids Winter Boot is a waterproof, insulated snow boot made for the slush, snowbanks and puddles of a real winter day—from the cold bus stop to the last minute of recess.
A seam-sealed synthetic rubber shell and ripstop nylon upper keep snow and meltwater out, while a removable 8 mm Zylex liner holds in warmth and pulls out to dry overnight. It's the outer layer for feet: pair it with one good pair of wool or synthetic socks and snow pants that cuff over the top.
Why Parents Love It
Rated for deep cold: Kamik gives the Waterbug 5 a -40° comfort rating (the same in °F and °C).
Waterproof where it counts: A seam-sealed, fully waterproof shell is designed to block snow, slush and puddles.
Removable liner: The 8 mm Zylex liner comes out so boot and liner can dry separately before the next morning.
Easy on, easy off: A midfoot hook-and-loop strap with bungee means no laces to tie with cold fingers.
Grip on slick ground: Synthetic rubber outsole made for traction on wet and icy surfaces.
Seen after dark: NiteRays reflective details help kids stay visible on short winter afternoons.
Built for Real Outdoor Use
Waterbugs are made for the kids who head straight for the biggest snowbank. They're built for outdoor school mornings, sledding hills, snow forts and the walk home through slush, with a tough ripstop upper and a rubber shell that's easy to wipe clean.
Because the shell is fully waterproof, they also handle the in-between days of early and late winter, when snow turns to puddles and back again. Kids can stomp through all of it and come home with dry feet.
Things to Know
Fit: Kamik recommends measuring foot length against its size chart. Some reviewers find the Waterbug 5 snug or narrow, so consider sizing up for wider feet or between sizes.
Socks matter: One pair of wool or synthetic socks works best. Cotton holds moisture, and extra pairs can make boots tight and feet colder.
About the rating: A comfort rating is a guide, not a guarantee. Kids who are moving stay warmer than kids standing still.
Keep snow out: In deep snow, pull snow pants down over the boot cuff so snow can't fall in from the top.
Dry it right: Pull the liner out after wet days and let both pieces air dry, away from direct heat.
Weight: 694 g / 1.53 lb (toddler size 8, per Kamik)
Shaft height: 9.25 in (toddler size 8)

Why ODSS Recommends It
The Waterbug 5 is our go-to everyday snow boot for toddlers and kids: warm, waterproof and simple enough for kids to put on themselves. It's the boot we reach for when winter means snow one day and slush the next.
We especially like the removable liner. Wet boots are dry by morning, so a soggy afternoon doesn't stop tomorrow's time outside.

Our Story
FOUNDED BY WOMEN. BUILT FOR ADVENTURE.
ODSS was started by mothers who saw firsthand how time outside builds resilient, confident kids. What began as helping outdoor schools equip students for all-weather learning grew into a bigger mission: Help families raise resilient, confident kids by making it easier for children to stay outside longer.
For us, the right gear from ODSS supports what we believe most about childhood. When children are able to be outside every day, in all seasons, they become tenacious, confident, and develop an authentic relationship with the land.
